Midday Crisis

Less than a year ago, I decided that it would be a good idea to run to get in shape.

Ha ha ha ha

But I DID do it for awhile, with the careful coaching of my friend Anna who IS a runner.

We started out with a plan to run three times a week at the beach in Pacifica near her house.

For a couple of weeks, all was well. I even got new running shoes.

Then, for whatever reason, we realized TWO days a week was a more reasonable goal.

About a month later, we decided - let's run one day a week and take the teacups for a walk on the other.

Pretty soon, we were down to one leisurely walk with the twins per week.

For the last month or so, we haven't even been able to manage that. I don't mind the lack of activity, but it WAS nice seeing Anna every week. She's a mom of three so she is kind of pressed for time. I, on the other hand, am a power napper - with pretty much all the time I need on my hands. Anyway.

So TODAY we are reviving our activities. Except instead of putting on sweats and running shoes, we are going to try something different.

That's right. She's coming over to my house after work for COCKTAILS!!!!

Hooray!

Doesn't that sound like a lot more fun than getting all sweaty and gross??

I think it does.

But we'll still be getting plenty of sunshine and fresh air. We'll be drinking our cocktails on my ROOF.

Sometimes life is really nice.

Broke-Ass Bitch

That's me!!

Damn. It doesn't matter how frugally I spend - I'm still down to nothing. It is a sad state of affairs.

It might help if I didn't have a cat that needed acupuncture or a face that needed chemical peels every three seconds. But there you go. My life is expensive!

However, I have made two lifestyle changes in the spirit of fitness AND frugality.

#1 I finally gave in to Tex' entreaties and joined her gym. I know that doesn't sound in keeping with frugality. BUT. Luckily for my bottom line (and my bottom line. get it? ha ha ha ha. yeah) they were running a promotion last week that involved not having to pay the initiation fee. So I saved THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS right off the bat. Yes!! I am a financial genius!! This is the perfect blending of the twin goals of F and F. I rock.

I am so glad I did it too. Because - guess what I just found out.

My best friend set a wedding date! Eek!! That means I's gots to look GOOD!!

#2 I bought a "wonder wash." I know what you're thinking. What the hell is that? Well click the link and you will see. I cannot WAIT for it to get here. That's more about frugality but I'm sure turning that hand crank will give me a good arm work out. Soon I will get the companion spin dryer. Then I will only need to take my sheets and comforters to the laundromat. NEVER again will my panties touch the insides of machines that have touched the panties of others!!

I had to work today. It kind of sucked. Laboring on Labor Day. gah.

All that came after a quiet weekend. I spent practically the whole time reading random books I got at the Salvation Army and eating ice cream cones. nom nom nom.

I hope things pick up this week. I am getting weirder by the second.
